I totally agree! But it’s one thing to give advice and another to flat out say “your dreams are invalid.” I do keep an eye out on message boards for people who gather to write but I need to work up my courage first!

Don’t let others get in your way of finding or seeking your dream.
BTW- tons of writing groups in English in AMS. Maybe it is something that will spark and encourage your writing skills.
