I hope that this little roundup can give some inspiration. I’m not a fashion blogger because my fashion sense is anything special. I like being cozy! I don’t buy a lot with each new season. But I still want to talk about why I enjoy wearing these pieces. The exciting thing about capsule wardrobes, is that it’s a seasonal fashion snapshot. It also goes to show that you don’t need to keep buying new things when the weather starts to change!

Hoodies for days
I’ve got a few interchangeable hoodies so I never run out. The colder weather is all about layering. So wearing a tee and a hoodie are as simple as one can get! What makes the outfit stand out, are the colors of the hoodies. I’ve definitely got a few favorites from the color scheme above! I’ve been especially in love with the pair 7722 C and 496 C. The combo makes me swoon! I’ve got a thick hoodie in 7722 and tennis shoes in 496. I feel on top of the world wearing this duo.

Jean Jacket dreams
The weather has been a bit warm and cold this season. For the warmer days I enjoy busting out my jean jacket. It’s oversized and has huge pockets for me to store anything. There are a few holes in it but I love the distressed look of it. What makes it great is that it’s also lightweight and doesn’t add bulk to my silhouette. Simple but interesting jackets are a great way to take that hoodie and jeans look to a new level. It’s less careless and a bit more fierce!

Comfortable bottoms
I’ve got black jeans and a few black skirts that I can whip out when I need to. Since I spend more of my outdoor time walking the dogs, I need practical bottoms. Keeping it simple with black is a good way to maintain a timeless look. I know that some jean color trends are seasonal and there’s no going wrong with a classic black.

Heavy Duty outerwear
No Autumn capsule wardrobe would be complete without a heavy duty jacket. I’ve got a wonderful jacket from last year that I’m still obsessed over. I do have a few other heavy coats that I can bust out too. I’ve got a spiffy military trench coat for those colder days and a beautiful light corduroy jacket embroidered with stars and moons for when I need something a little more glam.

Boots made for stomping
My mom bought me a wonderful gift when she came to visit, a pair of 1460 Docs. It took me about two weeks to break these bad boys in but it was worth it. They’re perfect for walking in the mud, puddles of water, and overgrown park paths. I love them so much! I want to wear them for many years. All my other boots lasted a year before falling apart.

I’ve gone back to basics this holiday season with my winter essentials. I decided that I prefer comfort over fashion this year. But that doesn’t mean I sacrificed everything! Even though I’ve been bundled up nice and tight, I still put my best foot forward each time! This year I’ve got a brand new hat that protects me from the cold. The cold bites at my cheeks when I walk the dogs on those brisk winter mornings.

My ultra plush and thick jacket keeps me nice and warm but doesn’t hinder my moveability. The hoodie has become a favorite of mine almost over night. I’ve got a few more that I love to use as well but this particular one adds that shock of color under all that black! I walk the dogs in often moist or even swampy fields.

My boots are perfect for stomping through the mud but keeping my feet toasty. If I need an extra layer of warmth the I have my long scarf to wrap around my face. So far this outfit has been great for the weather. Usually I don’t need much in terms of  winter essentials so keeping the list short and sweet is always a treat.

I’ve been super busy wrapping up my Dutch studies so I haven’t had too much time to write. Hopefully that will improve in the weeks to follow!

The Dutch are always outside especially when the sun is out. That doesn’t mean it’s warm though and dressing for the occasion can be difficult.

Let’s imagine you’re visiting The Netherlands and you have a full day ahead of you. You’ve got to bike to the local cafe to meet your coworkers for a morning coffee. Then after that you need to make your way down to a flower viewing. For lunch you decided to hit the beach for some sand betweens your toes. Dinner is your close friends in the heart of Amsterdam. How can you do it all in one day?

The Dutch spring uniform.

Make for travel and light weight to handle the sun at its warmest, the Dutch uniform is the go do for many young Dutch women. The outfit begins with a colorful shirt that’s a statement in itself. It seems like a tame choice but the Dutch are a special breed of people. Subtle fashion is at its core here. Minimalistic earrings bring a bit of shine without too much drama.

You begin the day with your sunnies and black jeans. The shorts are for when it’s gets too warm around noon. Longer shorts are quite popular here because no one takes a car when the sun is out. Everyone is on their bike, no matter how old you are!

At the beach you can take off those sneakers and socks and dig your toes deep into the cool sand.

Once the sun begins to set it’s time to rock those jeans and a fashionable trench coat that’s both light and flattering. The evenings here aren’t too cold but they can get chilly.

The Dutch are always on the go so it’s best to plan out for the entire day. The weather here is unpredictable at times so being prepared is key. Feel free to mix up any of these pieces for something more practical. I’ve seen women on bikes hauling trees home from the garden store. If they can do it, you can do it too!

Spooky sweater with eyeballs
I love how simple this knit sweater is. Just rub your hands up and down on the eyes to hide or expose them! It’s super cute and I’ll be wearing this even after Halloween is over.

Black jeans
I’ve been searching high and low for a pair of jeans that matches my body type. Everyone is tall and thin here and I’m pretty damn short and curvy. I finally wandered into ZARA and found the perfect pair! I got a black one to look sleek and classy even when I don’t feel that way.

Halloween Joggers
If you don’t know who Pusheen is, you’re missing out on something incredibly adorable. While I’m not a fan of cats, I love how Pusheen can make anything cuddly and cozy. These joggers are perfect for laying around the house after dinner (something I do often).

Dr Martens in the style Aunt Sally Coraline
My old boots lasted nearly three years before they fell apart and had to be tossed. I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of boots that will last me longer than that. I found this pair (on sale right now) that will be perfect for when it rains and snows here (my last boots had no traction at all). I’m hoping this pair will be just what the Doctor ordered!

Vanilla Pumpkin Body Butter
The scents of this body butter is so divine that I had to get the hand cream as well. It’s very light on the pumpkin though so if that’s what you’re looking for, you might have to keep searching. Either way, I feel like it’s perfect for the season and I love to slather it on right after a hot shower. The nights are getting colder here and this time of the year that I really miss those warm California nights!
