How we celebrate our Shiba Inus’ birthdays

Our ladies celebrated their birthdays last month! Booker is now 2 years old and Haru is 1. It’s been a rollercoaster with these two Shiba Inus but I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. These two mean so much to us that we celebrate their existence in our lives everyday. It’s only once a year that these little ladies get older so we take the time to go the extra mile. Baked goodies Last year I baked a…

What’s up with Booker and Haru

October 4th is World Animal Day. It helps to promote better animal care standards, but also reminds us that animals are living and breathing creatures. It’s a fantastic day to donate to local shelters or even adopt a pet that’s in need. We have a full house so we’re unable to do that. What we can do is give our dogs a little extra love. I figured now would be a great time to give an update on how our ladies…

An update on our puppy

It’s so cold that we’ve been staying home with the dogs instead of going out. Today it hit 25° and my fingers were aching by the time we got back home after walking the dogs. So I figured it would be a good time to give you guys an update on baby Haru. Haru is now a little over 4 months old and growing like a weed. She’s got all her shots (expect her rabies, we will be getting that…

Happy birthday Booker

This post is a day late because we wanted to celebrate Booker’s first birthday! She was born September 15, 2016. We brought her home in mid November and we haven’t looked back since. I made her a cake with this recipe and it came out pretty well. I should have trimmed more of the cake to make it a perfect square but I figured Booker wouldn’t care and I’ll get a better cake pan just for her birthday cakes. I also…

Langevelderslag strand, The Netherlands

When summer comes to mind, what else follows? Beautifully tall cups of iced tea, sitting outside with ice cream while enjoying a cool breeze in the shade, and of course, the beach. So when Sander’s sister asked if we wanted to join her and her friend for a walk on the beach with all of our dogs, we couldn’t say no. The unique part of summer here, is that the sun sets around 10pm. So we arranged to meet up…

Owning a Shiba Inu, updates on Booker

Booker is nearly seven months old now and is still quite a handful. We knew that choosing a Shiba Inu for a dog would be a challenge but it was one we were prepared for. I’ve grown up around dogs and don’t consider my house a home without one. Sander’s family brought Snowy into their lives around 10 years ago and Lucky two years after that. Both of them are Friese Stabij mixes and are pretty common in the Netherlands. I’m…

Booker’s first snow

I’m not one for just dumping photos on a post but I think that this shoot carries the phrase, “A picture is worth 1000 words”. This was our babe’s first snow and she clearly didn’t want the snow day to end. For more of Booker and her snow adventure, you can check out my latest video. And if you haven’t offically met Books, here she is!…

Booker our first Shiba Inu

Here it is! The post you have been waiting for, we got a puppy! She’s a Shiba Inu named Booker (named after the main character in Bioshock Infinite). We had to drive a long way to get her but it was so worth it! She’s adorable and such a sweet puppy. Unfortunately we found she has giardia and she’s on medication for it. She finished her latest set of medicine and seems to be improving but will have loose stool on…
